Backlinks; Drive Traffic To Your Site!

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

Backlinks are links from other sites that point to your site. Why are backlinks important? I can think of a couple of reasons.

First and foremost, if someone visits the other site, they could click on the link that brings them to your homepage. This alone will bring you some targeted traffic.

Second, and probably most important is for search engines. Search engines, especially Google, look at the number of links that point to a particular site. A large number of links pointing to your site makes a search engine think you have something important to say. Thus, ranking you higher on search results.

The most important thing about backlinks is the fact that you can optimize your site without spending a dime. More links pointing to your site will make your site attractive to search engines. You can spend thousands of dollars trying to get traffic to your site when backlinks will give you just as much targeted traffic than spending a bunch of money.

Something very important to remember though. The search engine looks at sites that point to your site with similar site content. For Instance, an automotive site with a link from a car parts site will rank you higher in search results. But, an automotive site with a link from hair care products may have no bearing or even a negative impact on the site.

Also, a backlink from a site ranked on the first page of Google will have more influence than a page that has no ranking or a low ranking. Choose your links wisely and don't go crazy exchanging links just to have them. This may hurt your site more than it helps you.

The Basics of Search Engine Optimisation

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

I am sure that it will surprise some people to hear me say that Search Engine Optimization isn’t rocket science! Although it can feel complicated at times the aim is simply to ensure that your website is presented in the way search engines like and ultimately that your visitors will like!

At the end of the day Search Engines always try to give users whatever they can find that is relevant to their search. You need to appreciate that the majority of Search Engines don’t work by moving the good stuff towards the top. What they do instead is to try to push the bad stuff towards the bottom, and hope that what’s good will ‘float up’. It is a frequently repeated truth that Content is King and good content which is well written and which is sprinkled with the appropriate keywords can get you good search engine rankings. This not only brings visitors to your site but also feeds the search engine spiders and crawlers. It is impossible to emphasise enough how well written and relevant content is key to good SEO.

One of the fast way to develop good content is to generate a series of articles regarding your topic. These items are very powerful in the world of SEO because they provide your visitors with something to read and they allow you to feature in the Search Engine results for some key words that you normally wouldn’t. Let’s say you are managing a website for Genealogists. A well written article about using a particular genealogy tool is more likely to generate a high position in the search results for “genealogy tools” than your home page. Therefore, if you write articles relevant to your subject but in more depth than you can put on your home page, you will find that you will benefit enormously.

Take a look at the sites that currently rank high on the search engines for your keywords or indeed for any keywords and you will generally find that they have simple designs with graphics that use minimal bandwidth, and they are generally easy to navigate. Simple, clean designs are what both search engine crawlers and search engine users like, as it lets them get the content they want without a lot of peripheral “fluff”. This is what you should be aiming to achieve with your website.

Of course some websites will be ranked highly in search engines, even though their designs make them difficult to read and navigate. If the content of a site is relevant to what people are searching for then that’s all that matters to a search engine. However, it’s preferable to have a site that is user friendly and easy to navigate if you want to encourage return visitors.

Let’s think about meta tags, keywords, descriptions, and titles. These are all important elements, even if they are not what will make or break your site. Whilst important they are just one part of your strategy. These elements need to be compelling and sprinkled with your keywords, as this will entice users to click through from the search results page to your website. It’s best to start off slowly, gradually adding things in as you learn.

If you have any questions and you don’t know where to go, then check out some of the forums on the subject. To do this you just need to go to your favourite search engine and do a search for ‘seo forum’. The people on these forums are generally more than happy to answer your questions, or direct you to someone who can answer your question if they can’t. Remember to be patient with yourself: learning something new takes time and effort, and SEO is no different.

Increase Search Engine Rankings Using These Easy Tricks

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

So you have a ranking in a search engine but it's not quite what you expected, right? Well there are a few tips for ranking higher and I'm going to share those with you today so listen up.

Rank Booster #1 Increase Your Reciprocal Links

This is a time tested approach and it works in both Directories such as Yahoo! and also in Spider Search Engines such as Google.

What you do is setup a link trading directory and make categories just like a mini Yahoo! except you have them all relate to your market. This provides keyword density and it also gives your link popularity a big boost.

But please be warned that if you just go and get any links you can (i.e. untargeted links) you will be penalized rather than rewarded in your rankings.

It's much better to get just a few high ranking link partners verses hundreds of unrelated and untargeted ones.

Rank Booster #2 Add More Content

This is a great technique that also works in both Directories and Spider Search Engines. By adding more content you will keep people who click over to your site there longer and this gets your ranking up in the Directories such as Yahoo! because they track how long a visitor stays at your site. If they click their back button then you will be shown as a site which doesn't help the visitor which will decrease your rank.

You will get a higher ranking on the Spider Search Engines such as Google because they spider through your whole site seeing how many pages there are and this increases your ranking because you have more information there for there visitors.

Both Directories and Search Engines love content and track how long people are staying at your pages which in turn also increases or decreases your rank based on how long they stay. If they stay longer, your rank goes up. If they click the back button immediately, your rank goes down.

Rank Booster #3 Improve Your Sites Load Time

This is another that works with both Spider Search Engines and Directories. This will improve your ranking in Directories because it will keep more of the visitors that click over to your site there longer. Internet users want information and they want it now. If your site loads like molasses then they are going to leave. Directories track how long a visitor stays at your site and rank you accordingly. If a visitor leaves immediately then you're rank goes down because your site was tagged as "not useful".

It will improve your ranking in Spider Search Engines because the spiders check for load time and load speed is part of the ranking system when they calculate relevance of a site.

Rank Booster #4 Improve Your Keyword Density

This one only works for Spider Search Engines. The reason is because Directories only review & list you once so you can change your keyword density after they list you but the review and placement of your site has already happened.

It works great in Spider Search Engines because they continually spider your site analyzing & updating your listing according to what it finds.

If you need a better listing then utilize these strategies in helping you boost your rank today. They work and although they all take time, you will see a difference.

These are much easier tactics than you will find in big, complicated SEO courses and there's a good chance that they may just bump your position up.

Get to work and start using them now

Why 3 Search Engines Are Enough

Seo Articles - Link Exchange -Seo Blogs

OK, so you're on the internet. You want to find some information about a healthy diet for you cat. Where do you go? Perhaps you remember the URL of a website that might provide this information, but what if it doesn't have exactly what you're looking for? How do you find a website that does?

Surely no one can remember the address to every single website on the internet and your ‘favorites' can only have so many websites before it turns into a massive list of random websites.

That's why almost everybody uses search engines. They provide us with an indexed directory of web pages, images, video, audio, and other various criteria from all over the internet, searchable by keywords or phrases.

So when someone is interested in finding out more about "hybrid automobiles", for example, they would visit one of the many internet search engines on the world-wide-web and enter that particular phrase to find web pages that contain information relevant to the search-term(s) they've used.

If my website contains information about "hybrid automobiles" then a link to my site would be included in that search. This is one way for webmasters to spread the word about their websites. It's estimated that 7 out of 10 people find websites through search engines (the yellow pages of the internet).

This can be a highly beneficial tool for website exposure and generating traffic. The best thing about internet search engines is that they're free! People can both search and submit their websites for free. It's true that some search engines offer paid listings, but even the ones that do still offer free listings.

Some people think they can increase their chances of visibility on search engines by submitting their listings to a large number of search engines. Admittedly, that was one thing I tried myself when failing to generate some serious traffic from my listings.

With great disappointment, though, I didn't succeed. There's one important lesson I learned in search engine submission.

Don't be lured by those web sites that claim to submit your website to thousands of search engines all at once. Today it is far more practical to submit your website to just one or two search engines and generate the same, if not more, traffic as you would with submitting it to one-hundred or two-hundred search engines.

One of the reasons for this is because some search engines have succeeded in bringing more visitors and generating far more traffic to websites than others. Another reason is because a great number of smaller search engines today use the results from other larger search engines. So it is no-longer necessary to have your listings on so many search engines, because there's a good chance that they'll end up there anyway.

So how many are enough? In my opinion submitting your websites to the three major search engines on the internet is more than enough to generate consistent traffic. I have been through a list of the top 500 search engines on the web and I've discovered that most of them are just taking search results from the biggest listings.

I've learned that 70% of the traffic generated by search engines comes from just 3 of the major search players. The number one search engine, of course, being Google. One website I read about was ranking in the lower 100,000 on Alexa and just by submitting their website to Google's search engine they jumped from 100K to the top 10,000 in just a few weeks. The next two, most important, search engines are Yahoo and MSN search. Yahoo still uses some of the results generated by Google, but both have a powerful drive themselves.

If you still want to submit your website to more of the search engines out there it eventually will bring you extra traffic, but don't expect that it will generate any more traffic than the major players. The important thing is to make sure you've properly optimized your website for search engines and follow the guidelines provided by each of them.

Start with the biggest search engines first and then work your way down the list. Update your websites constantly and make sure your SEO campaign is generating the results you want. Remember getting constant and steady traffic from search engines is a long term process and it requires a lot of work, but it is also very effective in keeping traffic flowing to your website in the long run. Search engines are the leading tool used in finding web pages on the internet. Don't pass up the opportunity to benefit from this tool.

SEO and SEM Explained

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

Search Engine Optimization is the process of making your website and individual web pages friendly to the search bots (spiders) and the human reviews of web pages and sites for the directories. This is a simple fact: if your webpage does not rank in the top 20 for your keywords you don’t have a website, what you have instead is a very expensive electronic broacher. Lots of people think that if you have your brother in law put some keywords into the meta tags that is all that there is too it. Which would be the same as your neighbor knows some first aid, so you go to him for a triple bypass surgery, sounds ludicrous, but I see people that believe that and bet their online presence on it. If SEO were that easy it would be great, however that is not the case.
Here is a very simplified breakdown of SEO. The URL is to the title, which is to the description, which is to the headings, and the headings are to the alt tags, and then keywords, keyword phrases and proper keyword density in the content. The headings, the title, the alt tags and the URL have the keywords and keyword phrases incorporated into them, followed by the bottom header of the title again and find links. Oh and make it look natural. A good SEO person can and will spend up to an hour just on a description for a single page to get it correct and that doesn’t even appear on what you see on the page when you view it. They will also spend hours researching what your keywords and keywords phrases should be in order to maximize the number of qualified eyeballs that land on your page. A Qualified eyeball is someone likely to take action in a way that you want like buying something or giving you their contact information so that you can follow up and fulfill the objective that you had in mind when you built the site.

Search Engine Marketing grew out of SEO basically it combines SEO with Pay Per Click(PPC) , Pay per Impression and link strategies that come in a lot of different varieties. The idea here is too buy yourself links and high placement for your keywords in order to improve the relevance and organic rankings in the search engines, while at the same time drive traffic to the site if it sounds hard to do it is and that is why it is one of the hottest tech careers right now. Google AdWords would be the number one PPC followed by in no particular order MSN Ad Center and one of the originals, Overture which is part of Yahoo Search Marketing now. There are some smaller ones in the arena as well; AdBrite, Knoodle and 7Search are a few of the smaller ones out there. One of the most popular linking strategies now would be blogs and researching sites that are relevant to your site, and asking for a link.

A whole new area is also coming into the main stream conscience now which would be the social networking sites like Flicker, You Tube and My Space. Reciprocal linking was all the rage for a while; however it has fallen out of favor as a reciprocal links will balance each other out. A tried and true way of getting links is writing good copy that has value to others, and then they will want to link to you, like writing articles on areas that you are a expert on like this one.

SEO - Increasing Web Presence By Developing Web Content

Seo Articles - Link Exchange -Seo Blogs

One way to spread the word about your website or blog is to offer amusing and entertaining content to other sites. Other sites love free content that has bells and whistles or a useful function of some kin. There are several ways to do this. All it takes is a little creativity and some programming knowledge to create a piece of code that allows others to paste an object that relates to your site.

This piece of code could be any kind of Internet knick-knack. It could be a horoscope, a short poll or a guessing game. It could be a calendar, a list keeper or some kind of puzzle or word generator. The possibilities are endless. Just be sure whatever it is that you invent that it is something that your readers will want. For instance if you are writing a blog about astrology you might want to provide them with a piece of code that displays their daily horoscope. If you are doing a dating blog you might want to post a piece of code that generates a yes/no response from the reader such as "Who should phone back first after sex - a man or a woman?"

People also like free clip art. If you have the ability to create clip art or provide a clip art library (that relates to your theme of course) to individuals then you will be sure to attract more traffic to your blog. This helps get your name out there so that it is associated with creativity and unique resources.

A really good example of this type of content in action is at façade.com, which offers a full-fledged tarot, rune, numerology and celebrity horoscope reading scheme as a free program that can be placed on other sites. The reason it is being cited as an example here is because it is so glitzy, full of bells and whistles and also very popular

SEO - Managing Comments on A Blog

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

You know your blogging is working when your page rankings are high and you have a lot of visitors. This also means that your blog might also need some management. Although you have succeeded at a business blog because your readers feel at home you might have too many "tenants" to manage in one space. You may have already them with a space in which they can respond to your blogs. Most blogging software and blogging sites already offer this especially if you have paid for a subscription or premium service.

However if you are being hosted by a site that does not allow comments or feedback from your readers then there are such programs as Haloscan or ForumUp, which allow you to attach your own free forum. Your readers click on a link and post their comments there.

Of course these free forums also have their drawbacks. Usually if you send your readers to a forum on someone else's servers they will be bombarded by free ads. The danger here is that they will click on those ads and not any of the ads related to your blog. The reason a comments section beneath your blog is so important is because it can create an argument that lasts for ages. This of course qualifies as fresh content. It also can give you a topic for a blog if someone poses a question or brings up an argument for you to respond you. In fact your reader's comments are one of the best sources of inspiration for content for the blog itself. Banning someone from your site by editing your commentary section is part of the blogging business. Make sure that when you post a blog on a free host that you have the capability of being able to edit any feedback that is posted. Unfortunately many free sites do not allow you to ban a poster unless you subscribe to premium services.

Overview of Search Engine Optimization

Seo Blogs - Link Exchange - Seo Articles

If you are a website owner or an online businessman, the possibility that you are not aware of the term 'SEO' is negligible. SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. This term is of major importance in the internet era today, as the success or failure of a website, and in turn the business reliant on it depends on careful adherence to the SEO principles.
These days, whenever the internet user wants to find some information on the internet, he goes to a search engine to begin with and searches for the content he requires through the search box present there. The search engine gives the results by comparing the terms in the search phrase with the content present on various websites over the internet. These terms are nothing but 'keywords', as the Search Engine Optimization Companies call them today.
Search Engine Optimization Services
have become very popular in the recent days due to the fact that proper optimization of website content is required to attain a higher ranking in the search engine results. SEO services help the website in obtaining more traffic by applications of techniques like keyword analysis, using keyword rich content on the website, optimizing the HTML coding of the website, using a search engine friendly title and theme-based link building for the website. Distinct strategies are also used for submitting the website to the search engines.
With the increase in use of internet, people started looking for cheaper ways to advertise their business or services. Traditional advertising had become very costly and it could only target a small segment of people. So, SEO soon became the most favored technique of advertising for various companies. Witnessing a rise in this trend, a number of Search Engine Marketing Services soon began to emerge on the scene.
A Search Engine Marketing Company has just one key objective. It is to market the client's website on the internet, so that the traffic to his website increases and he can reap profits from his business. Search engine marketing aims at attracting maximum number of visitors to a website and also providing these visitors the information that they are looking for. More often than not, a visitor is certain to find what he is looking for on a particular website. The chance of the visitor making use of the services of this website is also high in this case. Hence, the business is also bound to flourish.
Since the Search Engine Marketing Services try to connect the right keyword with the right website, the chances of finding a particular website offering a unique kind of service or product linking to the keyword are greater. Hence, the websites which obtain the services of these SEO marketing firms can be confident of attaining more traffic to their website. While SEO services are known to be very costly, the SEO marketing services are certainly cheaper and are able to provide the right solution for increasing the traffic to the client's website at a cheaper price.
However, SEO is not a subject which can be learned and put into practice easily. The techniques used in SEO change regularly and hence a person needs to keep himself up to date with all these changes if he considers himself an expert at SEO. This is a field which requires extensive study and training. Moreover, you should be able to put in more time and be patient for the results. If you just want to concentrate on your business, it is best to leave the SEO part of it to the experts.
